Here are some samples of two illustrations that I made and never have been published in print.

The ones with forest scenes and groups of kids I painted as a student project while I was still studying to be an art teacher, it must have been around 1983-84. The project “Witch Kid” (Noitalapsi) is about a powerful witch girl who helps the grown-ups save the fantasy world from the powers of darkness.

The images with the giant woman and the mountainous scenes were supposed to illustrate “Giant Mother” (Jättiläisäiti), a story about a giant mother looking for her lost son and finding him petrified on the side of a mountain. I painted them in 1988-89 while my son was still a baby, which might have effected the choice of theme.

Maybe the problem with both these illustrations was that I started illustrating before I really had a written story to illustrate, I just had some imaginary worlds and events that lived in my head and obviously wanted to come out. However, both of the (still unfinished) sets do seem to tell some kind of story, albeit in a visual way.
