This summer I had a chance to take part in two local group exhibitions with my works organised by two art associations that I am a member of.
Between June 12th and July 31st Karjaa art Association exhibited works of its members in the Fenix Gallery, which is situated in the in Cultural venue Fokus in Karjaa. Of the three works I had entered there, one – Draco corallium – was even written very nicely about in Västra Nyland newspaper (check Facebook).
The second, still ongoing group exhibition I am partaking, is Tammisaari Art Association’s Art Street (Konstgatan, Taidekatu) organised between 2nd and 8th of August on Kungsgatan (King’s Street, Kuninkaankatu), a popular shopping street in Tammisaari. I was allowed to enter only one work – Aestas visum somnium – but luckily got to place it in the spacious window of M. Broman, an optician shop, where it has attracted a good amount of positive feedback and even a buyer. Västra Nyland paper also published a story about the Art Street exhibition with photos of some of the works, including mine, but unfortunately forgot to name the artists except one.

Fortunately, a friend of mine found another article in another newspaper, where the artists had been named, and she promised to save it for me, so I can add it to my slowly accumulating scrapbook. Below is a picture of my successful acrylic painting Aestas visum somnium, so that you know what I am talking about.

Presently I am building an exhibition in our own small attic gallery, which I have named Lindtorpin ullakko, Lindtorp attic. It will be open from August 31st until September 14th. Two days of my exhibition, Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th, are dedicated to the Konstrundan art circle, during which many participating galleries and artist’s around Finland have their doors simultaneously open for touring visitors. There is a little presentation of me on the Konstrundan web pages, which you can read here.

Albeit it has been an unbelievably busy summer – hardly had time to pick berries or tend our garden, let alone do any dyeing or knitting – and there are still busy times ahead, I am enjoying this new phase of my life and looking forward to the coming events and other artistic challenges!
